OFFICIAL NOTARIAL ACTS

Authorized Acts
Notaries may perform the following official acts: (OCGA 45-17-8)


  • Acknowledgments, certifying that a signer personally appeared before the Notary, was identified by the Notary, and acknowledged freely signing the document.
  • Certified Copies, certifying that a photocopy of an original document is true and complete.
  • Depositions, certifying that the spoken words of a witness were accurately taken down in writing.
  • Oaths and Affirmations, which are solemn promises to a Supreme Being (oaths) or solemn promises on one's own personal honor (affirmations).
  • Verifications Upon Oath or Affirmation, as in depositions and affidavits, certifying tha the signer personall appeared before the Notary, was positively idetified, took a oath or affirmation, and signed a written statement in the Notary's presence.
  • Signature Witnessing, certifying that a signer personally appeared before the Notary, was positively identified, and signed the document in the Notary's presence.

FEES FOR NOTARIAL SERVICES

  • Acknowledgements. $2, per signature
  • Certified Copies. $2, per certified copy certificate
  • Oaths and Affirmations. $2, per person
  • Verification Upon Oath or Affirmation. $2, per signature notarized
  • Witnessing or Attesting a Signature. $2, per signature
  • Additional Fee for Authenticating Certificate. $2, per signature
  • Travel Fees. 58.5 Cents per mile, through December 31, 2009. (We charge this fee in addition to the State maximum fees, which is not stated in the law.)
